Architecture Undergraduate Program
건축학전공은 미학, 철학, 인류학, 심리학 등 다양한 분야의 인문적 소양을 바탕으로 건물의 설계와 건축의 역사 및 이론을 연구하는 분야이다. 건축학전공에서는 개별 건물의 내,외부 공간 및 환경 등을 설계하는 것뿐만 아니라 건물과 건물, 건물과 도시, 건물과 자연 등의 관계도 함께 고찰할 수 있도록 교육하고 있다. 건축학전공을 공부하기 위해서는 위해선 공과대학에서 요구하는 수학, 물리, 지구과학 등의 이공계 교과목의 공부가 필수적으로 요구되며, 그와 더불어 사회, 역사, 디자인 등에 이르는 다양한 교과목에 대한 이해가 필요하다. 또한 아이디어를 실제로 표현해내는 능력이 필요하며, 이는 설계를 구체화하는 중요한 도구 중 하나로 활용된다. 건축은 타인과 함께 사회를 만들어 가기 위한 삶의 방식을 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 우리 학과는 변화하는 공동체 속에 존재하는 인간적 가치를 탐구하고 지역성에 바탕을 둔 미래의 공간적 잠재력을 제안하는 건축물을 설계하도록 교육하고 있다. 이런 까닭에 우리 건축학 전공 학생들은 전통적 기술에서 현대의 첨단 기술에 이르기까지 다양한 기술에 바탕을 두고 산업과 실무에 적용되는 실천적 건축을 탐구한다.
건축학교육인증 프로그램
서울대학교의 건축학사 학위는 한국건축학교육인증원(KAAB)이 제시하는 인증기준 및 절차를 준수하고 건축학교육 전문학위 인증을 취득한 프로그램으로서, 캔버라협약(Canberra Accord) 인증기관들과 유네스코-세계건축사연맹(UNESCO-UIA) 건축학교육인증기구(UVCAE)가 동시에 인정하는 전문학위 프로그램이다. 인증 받은 건축학교육 전문학위 취득을 건축사등록원에 등록하는 등록 건축사의 필수 자격 요건으로 명시하고 있는 것은 국제적 추세이다. 국내 건축학교육 전문학위 프로그램은 교육기관의 선택에 의해 5년제 학부 학위과정으로 운영되며, 인증의 지속적 유지를 위해 정기적으로 인증심사를 받아야 한다. 한국건축학교육인증원은 인증기준 및 절차를 바탕으로 인증심사를 수행하며, 각 교육 프로그램은 그 심사결과에 따라 5년 인증, 3년 인증, 조건부 2년 인증, 인증유예 및 거부 판정을 받을 수 있다. 서울대학교의 건축학사 학위 교육 프로그램의 다음 인증심사는 2016년도 가을학기에 실시될 예정이다.

졸업 후 진로
졸업 후 건축사자격증 및 관련 기술사 자격증을 취득하여 전문적인 실무를 수련할 수 있다. 대학원 학위과정으로 학업의 길을 걸을 수 있으나, 주 진출 분야는 건축설계 관련 사무소이며, 건축설계, 실내설계, 설계감리, 인테리어 디자인, 건축관련 공기업 및 연구소, 건축직 공무원, 건설회사 등에 진출할 수 있다.
Architecture major students research the designs of buildings, history and theory of architecture based on aesthetics, philosophy, anthropology, psychology, and various fields. The students not only learn to design interior and exterior space and the environment of the buildings, but also study the relationships of the buildings and buildings, buildings and cities, buildings and nature, and more. To study in Architecture program, the School of Engineering requires to take natural science subjects, such as mathematics, physics, earth science, and etc. Furthermore, the it requires the understanding of many other subjects such as history, design, and etc. The ability to express the ideas in reality is necessary in order to be used as a tool to actualize designs. Architecture investigates the way of life to create a society with others. This program offers to design buildings that suggest the spatial potential by exploring the humane values in the changing communities. Hence, the Architecture students explore the practical architecture that applies in industries and working-level with the background of various technologies ranging from traditional technologies to high-tech modern technologies.
Architecture Educational Accrediting Program
Seoul National University Bachelor of Architecture degree has fulfilled the certification criteria and procedures that comply with Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB), and has received the accreditation for professional architecture program that is acknowledged by Canberra Accord, UNESCO-International Union of Architects (UNESCO-UIA) and UNESCO-UIA Validation Council for Architectural Education (UVCAE, UNESCO-UIA 건축학 인증/인정 기구). Registering the certified professional education degree to the Council of Registration Boards tends to be the requirement for the registered architects internationally. Domestic professional degree program for architectural education is operated by 5-year Bachelor’s Architecture degree course, and it must receive the certification audit periodically for the maintenance of certification. KAAB certification audit is conducted by acquiring the certification criteria and procedures, and each educational programs may receive 5-year, 3-year, 2-year(conditional), postponed, or rejected accreditation based on the results of the evaluation. Seoul National University architecture program’s next accredit evaluation is scheduled in the fall of 2016.
Career after Graduate
After graduating, students are able to work professionally by achieving registered architect license or any other architecture related licenses. Some students continue on to graduate school; however, most of the students employ at architectural design firms, such as architectural design, interior design, design supervision, architecture related state-owned companies, architectural R&D centers, architectural government employee, construction companies and etc.

건축학과에서는 2016학년도 봄학기부터 건축학, 건축공학전공을 구분하지 않고 신입생을 모집한다. 2016학년도 이후 입학생의 경우 1,2학년에 새롭게 편성되는 통합 교과과정을 이수하여 각 전공의 기초적인 내용을 습득하고, 입학 후 2학년 4개 학기를 마친 학생은 ‘건축학/건축공학’ 전공분리를 통해 해당 전공과목을 이수함으로써 관심분야에 대한 보다 심층적인 학습이 이루어지게 된다.

From spring semester in 2016, Department of Architecture is accepting new students regardless of dividing Architecture and Architectural Engineering. The students who enrolled after the year of 2016 will be completing the new integrated curriculum in 1st and 2nd year to acquire the basic contents of each major, and through selection of architecture or architectural engineering in 3rd year (5th semester), students will complete the courses in depth for their majors.

전공분리 기준
입학 후 2학년(4학기)을 마친 학생(65학점 이상 이수자)
전공분리 심사
전공분리 기준을 충족하는 학생은 신청을 통해 전공분리 심사를 받게 된다. 전공별 학생선발은 학생의 희망에 따라 전공을 배정하되, 특정 전공의 지원자가 배정 가능 인원(30명)을 초과할 경우 학과규정과 위원회의 결정에 따라 배정하게 된다.
건축학전공 졸업요건
1) 졸업이수학점 160학점 이상을 취득해야 한다.
2) 생명존중(자살예방) 교육을 반드시 1학년 재학 중에 이수해야 한다.
3) 1과목 이상의 전공교과목을 포함하여 3과목 이상의 외국어진행강좌를 수강해야 한다.
4) 학부 2학년(4학기) 이상 이수한 학생은 졸업 이전까지 인턴쉽 프로그램(4주 이상)에 참가해야 한다.
5) 5학년 학생들은 여름에 개최하는 건축전에 참가하여 졸업 작품을 전시해야 한다.
6) 졸업논문을 작성하여 제출해야 한다.
Criterion of Major Selection
Students who completed 2nd year, 4 semesters (earned minimum of 65 credits)
Evaluation of Major Selection
Students who meet the criterion for major selection will be evaluated through application process. The selection will be based on the student’s preference, however if the number of applicants exceeds the maximum number (30 students), it will be based on decision of SNU Architecture committee and department regulations
Graduate requirements
1) Academic Credits : Students must obtain minimum 160 credits.
2) Students must take at least 3 classes taught by foreign language including major.
3) Internship : Upon completing 3 years of studies(6 semesters), students must participate in an internship program(over 4weeks) to work for a local design firm.
4) Annual Exhibition : During their first 5 years of studies, students selected for outstanding works can participate in the Annual Exhibition. All students must successfully complete their final year graduation project and exhibit their works in the Annual Exhibition.
5) Graduation Thesis : Students must submit a graduation thesis that has been approved by their designated academic advisors.
6) Students must complete life respect(suicide prevention) education during 1st year and submit the certificate to the department.
