Understanding digital design
모더니즘 이후의 건축사에서 디지털 기술의 위치는 전통적인 차원에서의 도구의 수준을 넘어선다. 디지털이라는 새로운 매체는 건축가에게 무한한 가능성과 세계를 열어주었지만, 동시에 무한한 고민을 안겨주었다. 현대 건축에서 디지털 기술의 지위가 어떻게 변화했는지 파악한다. 컴퓨터 모델링을 통한 건축 형태의 창조라는 기초적인 응용방식에서부터 디지털 도구를 이용한 공간 개념의 설정, 이로부터 발생되는 건축과 형태 생성의 규칙에 대해 알아본다. 또한, 설계와 패브리케이션의 연계 등 디자인 프로세스 전반에 걸친 내용을 최신 건축 사례를 통해 연구한다. 이 과목은 세미나 형식으로 전개되므로 학생들의 참여가 중요하며, 담당 교수의 강의, 국내 전문가의 특강, 학생들의 사례 발표로 이루어진다.
To understand how digital media is applied in recent architectural design process. The course will cover from the basic application of computer modelling tools to setting up design concepts using digital technology. Topics will include creating rules for the form creation process, and the relationship between the design and fabrication. This course is consisted of lectures by the professor, guest lectures by experts, and presentations by enrolled students.
Computer Simulated Image의 도움을 받아 공간 속에서 이동하는 인간의 행동을 예측하고, 이를 통하여 공간의 규모나 배치를 결정하는 디자인을 배운다. 따라서 이 강의는 형태를 생성하는 규칙을 배우며, 또한 이용자의 행동 특성을 설계에 반영하기 위해 생성한 형태를 인간의 생활 속에서 평가하고, 나아가 디지털 프로세스를 통해 표현 기술을 개발한다.
Students will learn to predict human behavior in space with the help of computer-simulated images, and design the size and arrangement of space. The objectives of this course are to explore the principles of form generation, to evaluate the generated form in terms of human behavior, and finally to develop expression techniques through the digital process.
